Datos

F ounded in 1925, Malaga's Real Club de campo was opened by the Spanish Royal family the same year. It was designed by the famous Scottish course designer, Tom Simpson, one of the most important experts at the beginning of this century, who also worked on the Turnberry and Muirfield courses. One part of the course stretches parallel to the sea while another is set between avenues of strategically placed trees. The surrounding are home to hundreds of parakeets- the descendants of various breeding pairs which first nested in the area thirty years ago - adding a splash of colour to the country club and filling the environs and the natural saltwater lagoons with their song. This course was chosen by the PGA Europeantour as the venue of the inaugural match of the Tourespaña Andalusian master Open, which took place in February of 1992 and was won by Fijian Vijay Singh. Introduced in 1941 by Luis Antonio Botín Badwell, the clubs has hosted the Iberian cup - the oldest team tournament in Spain - for the last fifty years. From the very Start, this tournament has been popular with all Spanish golf clubs. Situated in the beautiful countryside between Málaga and Torremolinos, the club, due to its privileged location, is an excellent startingpoint for any of the attractive routes which cover the Costa del Sol and the province of Málaga´s interior.
