S ituated behind the mountains of Mijas. It is one of the most ambitious golf courses in Spain. as well Ballesteros' 18-hole course, there is also a small nine-hole course and another 18-hole one for children, on which adults are also allowed to play . Located on then mountainside, the views and surroundings are fabulous. The main course is ideal for both pros and amateurs. Alhaurin Golf, which breaks the mould of the classic type of courses usually found on the Costa del Sol, was opened in September of 1994 by the minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, Javier Gómez Navarro. When designing it, Ballesteros has totally respected the endemic vegetation, creating what it undoubtedly one of the best courses on the Costa del Sol. Its location, layout, orientation and climate all go to provide the best conditions for playing golf. After a few rounds so as to get used to the course which, covers an area of 1.500.000m2, it will seem fun and at the same time demanding. With two bunkers on the right and three trees in the middle of its fairway, the 404-metre par-four 9th is the most tricky hole of all. The 429-metre par-four 10th is also taxing, since its tee is located above the fairway and there's a lateral water hazard and a bunker on the left. Moreover, its green is protected by two bunkers also on the left
